We had another great week in first grade! We have already learned so much in the past 3 weeks! We are still trying to practice our ready, respectful and responsible behaviors so we can continue to be productive students that will graduate in the year 2023!!!!
- This week we continued our practice short /a/ sounds.
- We started working on combining numbers in math to create addition problems. We even started working on addition story problems. With our story problems we are learning how to show our work by drawing a picture, writing a number sentence (2+3=5) and writing a word sentence that details how we came up with our answer.
- In science we finished up our study of weather and the four seasons. We had fun figuring out what kinds of clothes to wear in each season of the year.
- We really jumped into our writing this week and began a narrative story about our favorite pet. We are learning the 5 steps in the writing process (prewrite, rough draft, revise, edit, and publish). A video will be coming soon that will show you that we have learned the steps!
- We began our skill and drill practice this week. We are trying to complete 20 addition facts to six in 3 minutes. We almost met our class goal of having 90% of the students make an 80% or better. We are sure to meet our class goal next week!
Also, don't forget to turn in your field trip forms and money-they are due August 30th.
